LaoChe, that was mean. It is just a calculation error by the program. Is there a modem config file I can edit or delete and set it up to use ttyS0, or any other port? Since I couldn’t get Finder operable past my desktop image, and I’d had a kernel panic just prior to that reboot, AppleCare told me via the phone that I’d have to backup and reinstall the Mac OS X.

Oh, and I have a DSL set up. I propose that this kernel panic is specifically related to the modem device driver for this hardware, and has not been addressed in any of the updates for I then tried deleting all modems and starting again but I cant seem to delete the “default” modem setting, modem0.
It is impossible to get that over phone lines.
